Dr Geoffrey Hanlon completed his first degree in physics, remaining in Oxford to read pre-clinical medicine and moving to Birmingham for his clinical training. He has been a GP in Loughborough for 36 years. He is an assessor for the National Clinical Assessment Service. He has had long experience in out of hours care, having been responsible for developing the National Out of Hours Accreditation Scheme and acting as co-author of the National Out of Hours Standards. He has a particular interest in establishing how commissioning agreements can be developed to cover very complex health systems.
