Spencer Gay is the CCG's Chief Finance Officer - taking responsibility for financial strategy, financial planning, financial management and financial governance of the CCG. He also leads on non-financial planning within the CCG. Spencer initially joined the NHS in 1997 immediately following graduation from The University of Liverpool with a Maths Degree. Qualifying as an Accountant in 2002 with CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), Spencer spent the first seven years of his career working across several finance roles at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire gaining a variety of experience. Spencer then went on to spend three years at George Eliot Hospital before moving into a senior financial commissioning role with LCR PCT in 2007. Having joined the Shadow CCG team in September 2011, Spencer is enjoying the challenge and responsibility offered by the CCG role and wants to ensure that the CCG manages its resources and plans effectively in order to be able to offer the best possible healthcare services to the patients of West Leicestershire. Spencer also plays a lead role in the system-wide financial planning as senior responsible officer from a financial perspective on the Better Care Together - our strategic planning vehicle for health and social care in Leicestershire.
